The event co-inciding with the Daft Punk listening party has been pulled.

The Weekend Vines festival, which was to take place in the New South Wales town of Wee Waa following the town's Daft Punk album listening party, has been cancelled tonight, with organisers saying that they had "no choice" but to pull the event.

A statement on the festival's Facebook page reads as follows:

**BAD NEWS FLASH**

We regret to inform everyone that due to unforeseen circumstances outside our control, we are forced to cancel the Weekend Vines festival in Wee Waa.

We have worked extremely hard on this project for the last 3 weeks but we were told one thing and then another a number of times. In light of this new information we have no choice but to cancel. We hung our balls out there, but unfortunately on this occasion it just wasn't meant to be.

We are extremely sorry for all those that made plans to come to the festival and for those that have bought tickets. Ticket holders will be notified shortly and refunds issued.

Please email us on info@weekendvines.com if you have any questions.

In the comments section following the post, the festival organisers blame licensing hiccups for the swift cancellation.

"The license of the winery does not extend to the entire site, as initially proposed," one comment from the festival reads, referring to the proposed venue Seplin Estate Winery.

The festival was to happen on Friday 17 May and Saturday 18 to coincide with Daft Punk's new album Random Access Memories being premiered with a special listening party in the town as a part of the Wee Waa Show.

It was announced last month and quickly gained council approval, but it seems one hurdle has proven too mighty for organisers to overcome.
