Rolling Loud: The Movie is hitting cinemas across the US in October, and the first look trailer has just dropped.
Starring Owen Wilson, Matt Rife, Christine Ko, Henry Winkler, and Christian Convery, plus musical guests such as Travis Scott, Sexyy Red, Ty Dolla $ign, and Ski Mask The Slump God, the American hip-hop comedy film was officially announced last October.
According to the synopsis, Owen Wilson will depict a father who makes a “bad parenting choice” by sneaking his 13-year-old son to Rolling Loud, “leading to chaos as they navigate crowds, security, and family dynamics with eccentric companions.” The film is set to contain side quests, comedic adventures, and, of course, live music.
The trailer is packed with fire, lights, and enormous crowds as Wilson loses his son at Rolling Loud, receiving advice from Travis Scott as he explores the festival grounds.

The film’s director, Jeremy Garelick, recently told Complex that the idea for the film is based on one of his harrowing real-life experiences.
“This all started from the chaos of me bringing my son to Rolling Loud in LA, three years ago,” Garelick said. “I took him to Rolling Loud LA and then lost him, and he was only 13. [I] freaked out, looked all over for him, and finally found him about, like, half an hour later. Then I gave him a big hug, and I was like, ‘That’s a good movie. That’ll be a fun movie to write.’”

Garelick explained that he wanted to turn a traumatic experience into a comedy, citing the cringe-inducing moments in There’s Something About Mary as being funny because Ben Stiller was the protagonist.
“It’s always about taking something that’s sort of a moment that, in your life, it’s sad or has a lot of stakes or [is] tragic, and using the timing to make it funny and putting funny people in those situations. I’m always looking for the positivity out of everything,” he said.
Rolling Loud: The Movie lands in cinemas across the US on 2 October via American High, Live Nation Studios, and Ketchup Entertainment.
In late February, the long-awaited return of Rolling Loud to Australian shores was cancelled a week before its scheduled run dates in Sydney and Melbourne.
Rolling Loud issued a statement about the cancellation, alleging that local promoters Primuse Entertainment “failed to meet critical payment deadlines and related obligations.”
Primuse Entertainment responded to Rolling Loud’s statement, saying that the company “does not accept certain aspects” of the festival’s “characterisation” of its local promoters.
Rolling Loud was scheduled to return to Australia for the first time since 2019 in March. Festival organisers had booked in headliners Gunna and Ken Carson, plus global heavy hitters including Sexyy Red, Tyga, Swae Lee, Quavo, and festival mainstays such as Ski Mask The Slump God, Lil TJay, Robb Bank$, rising stars Ian, Osamason, Rich Amiri and many more.
Local talent was also represented on the line-up. A dedicated stage would have spotlighted artists from Australia and New Zealand, including Hooligan Hefs, Youngn Lipz, Day1, Amarni, Lil Golo & Cult Shotta, 4ourttune, Jonny Chopps and others.
