Tumbleweed will play their booked slot on Sydney’s new Small World Festival line-up in honour of their founding member and bassist Jay Curley, who died last week.

Curley died at his home in Tarrawanna near Wollongong at the age of 42 and the band announced today the will play on in his honour.

Having been announced for the street festival, presented by local brewer Young Henrys, they said in a statement today, “We will be playing Young Henry's Small World Festival in honour of Jay. Filling in on bass will be Jay and Lenny’s older brother Pat Curley. Hope to see you there to celebrate the life and times of Jay Curley.”

They added, “Any other future bookings will be decided at a later date.”

The festival takes place on Jabez Street in Marrickville on Saturday 20 September, with strong food and drink elements as well as performances from Little Bastard, True Vibenation, The Snowdroppers and more.

All the profits from the sale of festival-branded t-shirts on the day will be donated to the Curley family.
