It’s been a little while between drinks for the enigmatic Tropical Fuck Storm, but the revered Aussie supergroup have now returned with a fresh new single, Goon Show.
Arriving today, on Wednesday, February 19th, the new track arrives alongside the band’s signing to the influential Fire Records label.
Chaotic and surreal in its focus, the group’s Bandcamp page describe it as feeling “like a nightclub singer crash-landing into a dystopian post-grunge fever dream”, and emerging from “somewhere between Pere Ubu and a distorted broadcast from the edge of reality”.
“Here’s a neat little jingle to usher in the dumb phone revolution of 2025,” the band said in a statement. “It’s time to downgrade and spend an afternoon or two outdoors away from our glasshouses.
“Meatspace is a magical land where we can all picnic and discover the things we have in common, away from Silicon Valley’s Angertainment Industrial Complex.”

The new track is a precursor to an as-yet unannounced new album from the quartet, which will arrive after a period of extensive global touring in the coming months.
With a performance at OK Charlton scheduled for this coming weekend, members of Tropical Fuck Storm will be performing in Melbourne this May, with Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin reprising their roles as members of The Drones for their first shows in nine years as part of the upcoming Platonic Love Jam gigs.
These sold-out dates will also see Erica Dunn performing with Mod Con, and will feature The Nation Blue, Paul Kelly, Dan Kelly, and Cold Chisel’s Don Walker.
It’s currently been four years since the release of Tropical Fuck Storm's last studio album, Deep States. Since then, we have however received a series of EPs, including the King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard collab Satanic Slumber Party.
This was followed by the likes of Goody Goody Gumdrops, Moonburn, and Submersive Behaviour. In 2024, the band shared a live album, with Inflatable Graveyard capturing the group in their element on the live stage.
