Having made their long-awaited return to the stage last year, Sydney's Tonight Alive are finally making their way back to Melbourne.

It’s been a long time since Warrane/Sydney rockers Tonight Alive played a headline show down in Naarm/Melbourne, but after seven years of waiting, the group have finally announced their comeback.
The past seven years have been relatively absent of live shows for Tonight Alive, with the group having effectively pressed the pause button following the completion of the touring cycle for their 2018 album Underworld.
Having wrapped things up with a series of dates on the Good Things lineup that same year, the group hit up the UNIFY festival in Victoria in January 2020, before visiting Melbourne’s Corner Hotel days later as part of a bushfire benefit with The Amity Affliction, Northlane, Ocean Grove, and Windwaker.
From there, it was pretty quiet. After all, drummer Matty Best had joined Sleeping With Sirens, and vocalist Jenna McDougall had launched her Hevenshe project. But in 2024, they reunited for a pair of dates in Sydney, and two shows as part of the When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas.
Now though, Tonight Alive are returning for their first Melbourne headline show since the Underworld tour in May 2018. It's all taking place at Max Watts on September 19th, with tickets to the show on sale now.
“Reuniting in Sydney last year was pure magic,” the group said. “We know so many of you travelled to see us, so with Melbourne being our first home away from home, we want to come back and return the love! Max Watts holds so many unforgettable memories for us.”

Currently, it remains to be seen when or if Tonight Alive will reactivate with further shows or (hopefully) new music, but in the meantime, fans are urged to catch these one-off dates lest they miss the opportunity completely.
Tickets to Tonight Alive’s Melbourne date are on sale now.
