Tones & I has revealed that police were called to her Byron Bay property this week.

The Dance Monkey hitmaker, real name Toni Watson, shared on Instagram that she had gone there to prepare it for a friend who would be staying and discovered that squatters had trashed it.

Police were called, alongside locksmiths to change the locks, and an investigation is currently underway, which Watson is heavily involved in.

“We’ve had squatters come in and completely demolish it,” Watson told Fifi, Fev & Nick.

“The builders across the road pretty much said that they’re not in a good way and they’re pretty hectic. The police came around.

“They’ve hit a few robberies up in Byron and they’ve also filled up their car with petrol and did a runner yesterday too, so we’ve got the builders watching the house today to see if they come back.

“There were needles, a crack pipe, weed plants out the back. There was a purse, so we got all their personal details and I’ve got their number, so we actually called them yesterday.

“There was a hospital band – they’d been in hospital the day prior, at Byron Bay hospital – so we actually called and pretended we were from the hospital to get some information, but the cops were with us, the cops did it too.

Sharing an update this afternoon, Tones said that she called them back claiming to be a nurse from the hospital and managed to get all their names, while confirming they were still in Byron Bay, despite police being under the impression they may have gone to Queensland.

“I found out when their follow-up appointment was and where it was, and they missed it and they asked if I could book them in a second appointment, so they could get to that,” she revealed.

“I just said I’d call them back, so I don't really know if I’m going to try and do this – I’m probably just going to call the police now and get them to do it.”

Last month, Watson’s eye-watering fortune was revealed as the singer scored a place on the Australian Financial Review’s Young Rich List.

Tones & I is worth an estimated $35 million, according to the publication, which attributes her placement on the list to Dance Monkey, an “enduring hit”.

It’s reported that the track, which has broken numerous ARIA chart and streaming records since its release in 2019, has earned the singer $12 million.

As News.com.au notes, Watson also has a healthy property portfolio, including a $7.08m Mornington Peninsula pad she acquired last year.
