Four months after announcing their upcoming return to Australia, American rockers Thrice have cancelled their tour dates.

The band shared the news on social media this morning (24 February). Expressing disappointment at the cancellation, Thrice vowed to return to Australia and New Zealand “when the time is right.”

“We are sorry to announce that we will have to cancel our upcoming Australia and New Zealand tour,” the band wrote. “We know many of you will be disappointed, but we are, too, and we promise we’ll make our way back down there when the time is right.

“Refunds will be issued at point of purchase.”

The Music reached out to tour promoters SBM Presents for comment, but at the time of publication, hasn’t received a response.

Thrice were set to tour Australia and New Zealand in April and May, with tour dates booked in Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. The band were set to bring their new album, Horizons / West, and their new show to their fans Down Under.

Thrice last visited Australia in 2023 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic second album, The Artist In The Ambulance.

In a recent interview with The Music, singer Dustin Kensrue reflected on the band’s love affair with Australia and teased their return.

“I feel like every time we come down to Australia, we just have a blast,” he said, recalling the excitement of their 2023 tour.

He added, “We love the country, and people are super welcoming. The shows are a lot of fun. I won’t lie; we’re big fans of your guys’ breakfast [laughs]. The breakfast game is strong! So, everyone’s excited about that. It will be announced sometime coming up that we'll be heading out that way…”

Discussing the band’s new album, Kensrue stated that he believes Horizons / West is “thematically more dense than anything we’ve done except for probably The Alchemy Index.”
