Three Aus Arenas Make Global First Quarter Top 50

Allphones Arena our top-selling venue

Three Australian arenas have made the global top 50 for ticket sales in the first quarter of 2013, lead by Olympic Park's Allphones Arena.

Published by American industry magazine Pollstar, the list is topped by two UK venues – London's The 02 (first with 446,893) and the Manchester Arena (second with 320,148) – with the top six arenas all from Europe. The first American venue is Miami's AmericanAirlines Arena at seven with 190,166.

Covering tickets sold worldwide for show held between January 1 2013 and 28 March 2013, Australia's first entry is at ten with the AEG Ogden-managed, Nine Entertainment-owned Allphones Arena with 143,866 tickets scans. In that time they've had tours from Bruce Springsteen, Blink-182 and Guns N' Roses.

The Sydney Entertainment Centre is at 24 with 98,670 tickets and Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena at 41 with 54,462 tickets.

Last December it was revealed that the Sydney Entertainment Centre would operate until late 2015 when development of the Darling Harbour area will see the venue knocked down and rebuilt. AEG Ogden have won the contract to manage the venue from 2016.

New Zealand appears at 28 with Vector Arena having sold 88,003 tickets.

AEG Ogden's parent AEG Facilities claimed 12 of the 50 spots, boasting arenas such as The O2 (one), AmericanAirline Arena (seven), 02 World Hamburg (eight), Allphones (ten), Sprint Center, Kansas City, (11) and STAPLES Center, Los Angeles ,(12).
