Need to brush up on your Splendour acts?
It's hard to believe that we're about to start traipsing the grounds of Splendour In The Grass for another year. It's been a hell of a journey…
At first we were excited, we speculated about the line-up, before we found out who was playing and when they would be on stage.
Then we followed most bands' every move and covered them as best as they would let us (sometimes slightly more), so here's a rough look at what has transpired for Splendour bands of late.
MUMFORD AND SONS:
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
Plenty love them, but here are 5 Rockstars Who Hate Mumford & Sons.
Their bassist gave us a bit of a scare recently, as he had to undergo some pretty serious sounding surgery.
FRANK OCEAN:
After much speculation and a hell of a wait, he announced sideshows, sold them out, and announced a stack more.
OF MONSTERS AND MEN:
We chatted to the band about their quick return to Australia.
They also announced sideshows. And then, just kept on announcing more.
BERNARD FANNING:
He has a new album on the shelves, so we sat down with the former Powderfinger frontman to chat about it.
BABYSHAMBLES:
The UK group announced Aussie sideshows to coincide with Splendour!
But then they cancelled them.
We got them on the phone to discuss their first ever trip here, though.
PASSION PIT:
These guys are bringing their A-Game to Australia, or so they told us.
They've given us a few chances to see if that's true…
EMPIRE OF THE SUN:
In order to get the full view of the band's new record, we spoke to both Nick Littlemore and Luke Steele about the latest Empire Of The Sun record, which they'll be playing plenty from at Splendour.
JAMES BLAKE:
He revealed to us that he'd be here for Splendour earlier this year.
Then he told us more about his new LP and his thoughts about Australia more recently.
LAURA MARLING:
We caught her in London recently; here's what transpired.
KLAXONS:
The Brits are finally embracing the fact that they're a dance act.
THE POLYPHONIC SPREE:
They might be doing Rocky Horror at Splendour, but there is new material on its way.
FLUME:
The young prince of Aussie electro has his say on recent success.
PORTUGAL. THE MAN
These guys are so friendly they even came into our office to talk about shotgunning beers!
BOY AND BEAR:
The return of these heavy hitting folkies is mighty exciting; hopefully we'll hear plenty of new material.
SURFER BLOOD:
We get the inside word on what exactly went into the band's latest LP.
MS MR:
It took a little while, but this duo are comfortable revealing who they truly are, they told us.
FAT FREDDY'S DROP:
They gave us one of the year's best clips.
They'll be heading out on a big tour in support of their great new LP.
AIRBOURNE:
It's great to have the boys back, we chatted to them about their triumphant return.
DARWIN DEEZ:
He has become really interested in Carl Jung recently. Seriously.
COLD WAR KIDS:
The band got physical with their playing, they tell us.
SARAH BLASKO:
There was a fair amount of pressure on her when making this latest record.
We weren't sure if her latest video was NSFW or not…
HAIM:
These ladies are well aware of their tour schedule, thank you very much. They've been looking forward to this for years.
Australia will always be special to them; it's where they finished their debut LP!
THE DRONES:
I Sea Seeweed is another triumph for these Australian treasures. Here's what they had to say about the making of it.
CLAIRY BROWNE & THE BANGIN' RACKETTES
This band had success on their debut, but can't wait to prove themselves on their follow up.
EVERYTHING EVERYTHING
The group just don't wanna let anyone down on this tour. It's kinda cute, really.
SNAKADAKTAL:
They've been around for ages, but we still love this band's story.
WHITLEY:
The man himself discusses coming out of the wilderness and back into view.
ROBERT DELONG:
Perception of dance artists isn't really something that bothers this young EDM gun.
VANCE JOY:
It sounds cheesy, but Vance Joy really does love joy.
He should be joyful given all of this recent success he has been having.
CUB SCOUTS:
They've been doing well in the United States of late.
But they still like to have a dip in a good Aussie public pool.
VILLAGERS:
These revered UK folkies are just pumped about Splendour. Absolutely pumped.
We're sure they were pumped about their sideshows too…
VIOLENT SOHO:
We won't be forgetting their latest clip in a hurry. We love Brisbane.
THE GROWL:
Further shows will be rare for this WA mob, as they've already named their final shows for 2013.
DCUP:
Chart-topping producer has certainly done his homework.
ALISON WONDERLAND:
If you dig her at Splendour, there'll be plenty of chances to see her again real soon.
She sings on her latest track.
She also told us all about how people's perception of her music is usually different to the truth.
CLOUD CONTROL:
Here is one band who are absolutely stoked to be back home.
SOMETHING FOR KATE:
There almost seems a renewed interest in this band and they are there to give the fans what they want.
DAUGHTER:
Before they were even announced for Splendour we chatted to Daughter about their stunning debut.
