"What about the women!! Viv Albertine"
Here's proof that when you're punk, you're punk 4 life.
Despite being in her 60s now, Viv Albertine of iconic British punk rockers The Slits took it upon herself to deface (edit?) a punk exhibit in London's British Museum for not recognising the work of women in the punk scene over the years.
As NME reports, a panel in the exhibit focused on Punk 1967-78, which read, "Groups such as Sex Pistols, The Clash and Buzzcocks stimulated a nationwide wave of grassroots creativity, sparking a vital cultural legacy that endures to the present day."
Albertine took to the display with a marker, crossing out the bands mentioned and adding X-Ray Spex along with Siouxsie & The Banshees to the display, adding the aside, "What about the women!! Viv Albertine".

She crossed out other mentions of the Sex Pistols too, adding The Slits in its place. The cool part? Albertine's additions to the display is now a piece of art in itself — an influential punk figure commenting on the history of punk, for all to see.
At her talk last night @viv_albertine was so incensed at the exhibition signage's female erasure she amended it pic.twitter.com/x0LD2uem7F
