It’s been a tense week as Bluesfest ticket holders have waited to find out whether other shows are going ahead. The Living End and Counting Crows announced shows to make up for Bluesfest’s cancellation, but fans were uncertain about what else would happen next month.

Today, ska punk icons Sublime confirmed they are still heading to Australia and New Zealand in April, thanking Kiwi promoters Trademark Live for stepping up to put on their Australian shows.

“Bluesfest may be cancelled… but we’re not going anywhere,” the band wrote on Instagram today (20 March).

Confirming that they’re “still coming,” Sublime’s upcoming shows will take place at Melbourne’s Festival Hall on Wednesday, 1 April, and Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Saturday, 5 April.

They continued, “To our Australian family — we’re still coming. Sublime will be in Melbourne on April 1st and Sydney on April 4th, and we’re bringing it all with us. No festival, no problem.”

“These shows are about you — the fans who’ve been riding with us, blasting the music, and keeping this thing alive across the world.

“Let’s turn this into something even bigger. Melbourne. Sydney. We’ll see you soon… Thank You @trademark_live for stepping in.”

Limited tickets remain for the band’s Australian shows.

The shows will feature a reunion of founding members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, touring alongside Jakob Newell, the son of late frontman Bradley Nowell. While Sublime with Rome have previously visited Australia, these shows mark their first-ever dates as Sublime.

Known for hits such as Santeria, What I Got, Wrong Way, and more, Sublime experienced a new wave of success with the release of the single Ensenada last year. The track became their biggest smash since What I Got, spending eight consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart in North America.

Ensenada is the first single from the band’s forthcoming album, Till The Sun Explodes.
