blink-182Are Violent Soho planning a reunion? According to blink-182 frontman and bassist Mark Hoppus, they are.
On Saturday night (21 March), Hoppus continued his spoken-word Evening of Storytelling run across Australia and New Zealand at the Sydney Opera House. Like last week’s Melbourne shows, where he invited special guest Amy Shark to the stage, Saturday’s event also featured a special guest.
This time around, he invited Violent Soho frontman Luke Boerdam and guitarist James Tidswell to the stage for an acoustic performance of blink-182’s Dammit. Hoppus also told the audience that the band are reuniting.
“I wasn’t joking, by the way, they really are getting back together,” Hoppus told fans. Check out the performance below.
As Billboard notes, the performance marked the first time that Boerdam and Tidswell had appeared on stage together since Violent Soho played their last show on 10 September 2022 at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall.
On his Instagram Stories, Boerdam shared that he’d received a signed note from Hoppus, which read: “To Luke, thanks for getting the band back together 2026.”
Meanwhile, in a post about the performance, the frontman and guitarist said Mark Hoppus got Violent Soho back together for “only one song, but I’ve definitely missed this.”

“So randomly I get this call late one night from Tidswell,” Boerdam wrote alongside images from the performance with Hoppus. “He sounded a little shaky ‘I know I’ve asked a lot from you in your life, I know we’re on hiatus, but this one is important… Please, can we do this one. PLEASEEEE’. Before he finished his sentence, I started to think up excuses; my sister’s birthday seemed like a good out.”
He continued, “Okay…now, I just need to be firm, and I won’t have to do this weird gig he’s about to ask me to do. ‘Well, what is it?’ I ask. ‘Reckon you can sing Dammit with Mark Hoppus at the Opera House???’. I paused. ‘Yes, yes I can’. So yes, @markhoppus got @violentsoho4122 back together. It was only one song, but I’ve definitely missed this.”
No reunion statement has been made on the band’s social media accounts.
Hoppus’ statement that Violent Soho are getting back together comes just days after the band announced a special edition re-release of their seminal 2016 album, WACO.
“When we made WACO, we weren’t thinking about anniversaries or legacy, we were just trying to capture where the band was after years of touring and having some momentum from the release of Hungry Ghost,” the band commented in a statement. “We created some awesome memories in the studio and really tried to push our sound further.”
They added, “Looking back ten years later, it’s amazing to see how those songs connected with people, it means more than we expected. Digging out some B-sides and pressing it again on vinyl felt like the right way to mark that moment and give the record another life. Mostly it’s just a thank you to everyone who’s been in our corner this whole time.”
Mark Hoppus concludes his An Evening of Storytelling tour, in support of his memoir, Fahrenheit-182, in Auckland this week.
