Amy SharkMark Hoppus invited a special guest on stage with him last night (18 March) during his An Evening Of Storytelling spoken-word performance in Melbourne.
Amy Shark, who’s collaborated with all three members of blink-182 across three of her albums, took to the stage at the Melbourne Recital Centre, acoustic guitar in hand, and played the band’s anthem, Dammit, with Hoppus.
Sharing footage of the unexpected moment, with the words “I’m no Tom DeLonge, but I just played Dammit with Mark Hoppus” over the video, Shark posted a clip on her Instagram. She captioned the surprise performance, “Thank you @markhoppus for inviting me to play such an iconic punk rock song with you! What an incredible evening. Extremely EMOtional.”

Mark Hoppus is touring Australia and New Zealand, sharing stories from his upbringing, his career with blink-182, and more, to promote the recent release of his memoir, Fahrenheit-182. His second show in Melbourne takes place tonight, before heading to the Sydney Opera House (21 March) and Auckland’s Town Hall (23 March).
Hoppus’ An Evening of Storytelling tour presents the musician to fans in a whole new light. He isn’t singing and putting on a show from a massive stage, but he is sharing his story about growing up in the ‘80s and forming one of the world’s most successful rock bands.

During his appearances in Australia, Hoppus details the stories featured in Fahrenheit-182, which he wrote alongside Dan Ozzi, the author of Sellout and a music journalist.
Within the memoir, Hoppus explores his upbringing in the Mojave Desert and his early love for punk rock, and details the “definitive history” of blink-182, including their beginnings in a SoCal garage, their rise to fame, their breakups, and his “bromance” with guitarist and co-vocalist Tom DeLonge.
In addition to the musical discussions, Hoppus was inspired to write his memoir after being diagnosed with cancer in the early 2020s, an experience which prominently features in the book.
In 2018, Amy Shark released her debut album, Love Monster, which features the single Psycho—co-written and starring Mark Hoppus as a guest vocalist. The singer recently announced that her forthcoming album, soft pop, will be released in July.
