Amy Shark is back, today dropping her much-teased cheeky new single, The Biggest Dick, and surprise announcing her new album, soft pop.

Shark has been teasing The Biggest Dick on social media, encouraging fans to try and guess the title and sharing snippets of the track.

Described as “the ultimate breakup song,” the confident earworm showcases the singer’s vulnerable side, as well as unveiling the empowering nature of picking yourself back up after a relationship ends.

The Biggest Dick is about celebrating all the little wins you have when you’re feeling low,” Shark explained in a statement. “Things like coffees and blue skies. It’s the ultimate breakup song. A little bit sad, a little bit vulnerable, a little bit uplifting, but mainly.. a big F U! You big dick.”

Meanwhile, Shark has announced that her new album, soft pop, is set for release on Friday, 31 July. The follow-up to her third album, 2024’s Sunday Sadness, her new record has been hinted at as a “return to her roots” kind of album, where Shark plumbed the depths of vulnerability and juxtaposed them with pure joy.

Written mostly by Shark herself, she spent a month in her apartment to channel cathartic, introspective vibes to propel her creative vision. She teamed up with just one producer – Dann Hume (Matt Corby, Courtney Barnett, Troye Sivan) – at his Wales studio.

Together, the pair leaned into the emotion pouring out of the songs, highlighting big feelings with minimal production, using no drums.

Shark’s new album will be released on three vinyl variants – a Hot Pink copy available at all retailers, a yellow JB Hi-Fi Exclusive in Australia only, and the Hand Poured Red/Blue/Green, sold exclusively through Amy Shark’s website.

Fans who pre-order the album through Shark’s website today can choose between standard packaging and a limited-edition “soft” packaging release of the CD and vinyl, featuring a deluxe blue fur slipcase showcased by Shark on social media.

While Shark is currently on our screens as a judge on Australian Idol, she’s set to make her acting debut later this year in the action flick, Beast, starring Russell Crowe.
