More Mark Hoppus More Mark Hoppus

Mark Hoppus surprised fans with his An Evening of Storytelling Australian dates for next year, and due to extraordinary demand, the Blink-182 co-vocalist and bassist has added another show to his schedule.

This week’s pre-sale has been packed with demand, so a second show at Melbourne Recital Hall has been announced. Hoppus will kick off the tour at the venue on Wednesday, 18 March, and return for an already-announced show on Thursday, 19 March, before heading to the Sydney Opera House on Saturday, 21 March.

The general sale for all shows will open today at 1 pm local time via the Live Nation Australia website.

Hoppus’ An Evening of Storytelling tour will present the renowned musician to fans in a whole new light. He won’t be singing and putting on a show from a massive stage, but he will be sharing his story about growing up in the ‘80s and forming one of the world’s most successful rock bands.

During his appearances in Australia, Hoppus will detail the stories featured in his recently released memoir, Fahrenheit-182, which he wrote alongside Sellout author and music journalist Dan Ozzi.

Within Fahrenheit-182, Hoppus explores his upbringing in the Mojave Desert, his early love for punk rock, and details the “definitive history” of Blink-182, including their beginnings in a SoCal garage, reaching the peak of their fame, break-ups, and his “bromance” with guitarist and co-vocalist Tom DeLonge.

In addition to the musical discussions, Hoppus was inspired to write his memoir after being diagnosed with cancer in the early 2020s, an experience which prominently features in the book.

In mid-2021, Hoppus underwent treatment for stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and confirmed its success three months later. By September 2022, he was “clean” of cancer.

Last year, Blink-182 returned to Australia for a 15-date tour with special guests Rise Against. The shows marked their first run Down Under since 2013 (drummer Travis Barker hadn’t set foot on our shores for an even longer period).
