Melbourne, welcome your newest full-time venue
The renowned Shadow Electric open-air cinema and band room is about to become a full-time fixture on Melbourne’s live music scene, with the announcement today that the Shadow Electric Band Room will be launching as a permanent venue, four nights a week, from August 8.
Since its establishment within the hallowed grounds of the Abbotsford Convent two years ago, The Shadow Electric has steadily built up a reputation as a hotbed for high-quality music, arts and culture events. Venue founders Jay Rayner and David Chestwig have since provided local musicians and theatre groups with a platform to project their works, including faces such as Courtney Barnett, Lost Animal, World’s End Press, Tex Perkins, and international drawcards such as Mac DeMarco, Kurt Vile, Prins Thomas and several others.
Once the chill of winter lifts, The Shadow Electric will be bringing its open-air cinema to the forefront, operating five nights a week in addition to its live shows and matinees.
The Shadow Electric Band Room’s programming kicks off on August 8 with Rat & Co’s AV show X Blunk, supported by Silentjay and LUCIANBLOMKAMP. The following Friday, August 15, will see Eagle And The Worm take the stage with special guests, before Saturday the 16th’s epic Globelight Festival Party (line-up TBA) and the EP launch from Twerps alongside Fabulous Diamonds and The Shifters on Friday, August 29.
