One of Sydney's most iconic venues has been put on the market, after being a symbolic home of rock music since the 1980s. The owners of the pub, brothers Dan and Matt Rule, have decided to sell The Annandale after owning it since 2000 and reinvigorating it as a live music venue.
Matt Rule has commented that “We’re offering investors the chance to get in at the grassroots ... the great thing about it is that at the grassroots they’d be gaining a business that’s been operating successfully for over 10 years.”

The venue has been typically graced by huge local and international rock acts, such as The Vines, You Am I, The Cat Empire and Rise Against. Other bands that have played the Annandale in recent years include Death Cab For Cutie, Parkway Drive, The Dillinger Escape Plan, I Killed The Prom Queen, The Bronx, Cancer Bats, Have Heart, Gorilla Biscuits and La Dispute.
