It sounds like the crew had their work cut out for them on the set of Foo Fighters’ horror-comedy Studio 666.

With the film out this month, hitting Aussie cinemas from February 24, the band appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss the new project, with Dave Grohl revealing that Taylor Hawkins “refused to learn his lines”.

When quizzed by Kimmel as to why he was “difficult”, Hawkins said: “It’s not that I’m difficult, it’s that I’m lazy and I’m not much for book learning. I don’t… I just had a bunch of pages to read [scrunches up face].”

Pat Smear added he learnt his parts “right before” they called ‘action’, which lead to Grohl stating there was a bunch of, “What… what’s my line?” happening on set. “By the 25th take you kind of get it,” he jokingly added.

So, production with a bunch of musos went pretty much as expected – but given director BJ McDonnell has worked with bands before, overseeing a number of classic Slayer music videos, he probably handled it okay.

Based on a story by Grohl and featuring all six members of the band, the film will centre around the group recording in a haunted studio, and the terrors that lie within bubbling up to the surface.

In other Foo Fighters news, earlier this week rumours surfaced that the US rockers were in talks to perform a one-off show in Geelong next month.

At this stage, it’s looking like it would be early March if it happens, but the band’s Australian promoter, Frontier Touring, declined to comment on the rumour and the Herald Sun reports an insider as saying “there is still a lot to be worked through”.
