Stalwart Sydney Music Venue Roundhouse Scores Multimillion External Renovations

Sydney's beloved Roundhouse has been given another touch up with the completion of an $11 million exterior revamp. 

Following a $32 million relaunch in February last year, the iconic Kensington live music venue has again been upgraded with a rainwater harvesting tank, a new green space, a redesigned loading dock and the addition of distinctive architectural features.

“Environmental sustainability is a core element of the University’s 2025 Strategy,” UNSW Director of Development, Alexander Frankl said.

“It’s important that we not only research and teach about sustainability issues but demonstrate sound practices on our campuses.” 

Roundhouse Head of Venue and Events Jason Lyons added, "We are thankful for our continued partnership with UNSW and the environmental considerations they have made in these upgrades.

"We have shifted our focus as a venue to evaluate the impact we and our clients have on the environment and we are making significant changes to our processes to play our part."

Since re-opening last year, the Roundhouse has hosted a number of gigs for big-name local and international acts including The Jungle Giants, Millencolin, Ziggy Alberts and Hockey Dad. 

Aussie heavyweights King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will perform at the venue this weekend, while Sydney favourites Northlane are set to play there in October.
