Brazilian groove metal titans Sepultura have announced the details of their final ever live show.

The concert will take place on Saturday, 7 November, at the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu in São Paulo, the band’s home country of Brazil. Founding members Jean Dolabella and Jairo Guedz will appear on stage alongside other members of the band’s storied history; however, Max and Iggor Cavalera denied invitations to take to the stage.

For their final show, Sepultura are going out with a bang, locking in special guests Metal Allegiance, Krisiun, and Sacred Reich – with more acts to be confirmed – at the venue they played at in 1991. That show drew 30,000 punters to the arena, which is more than three times what police expected for attendance.

Tickets for the band’s final show will be available from 30 May via Ticketmaster.

Sepultura made their way to Australia for the final time in March on their Celebrating Life Through Death tour.

The influential metal outfit announced their disbandment last December and embarked on a tour, which included venue upgrades and sold-out shows across Latin America, Europe, and the US.

In addition to their impending disbandment, the Australian dates also marked Sepultura’s 40th anniversary. The shows explored their catalogue, and, throughout their World Tour, Sepultura have discussed a plan to record 40 live tracks from 40 cities, culminating in an epic collection of the band’s best live moments.

Throughout their career, Sepultura have amassed 14 Gold records and played in 80 countries. One of the most significant metal bands of their generation, the band sold over 20 million records worldwide across 15 albums, earning Gold and Platinum status in Australia and beyond. Their landmark 1996 record, Roots, has over 150 million streams on Spotify alone.

Reflecting on the 40th anniversary milestone and their incredible career, the band have commented: “We’ve always had the best fans in the world, who supported us with praise and criticism, who were demanding and intelligent, who grew together with the band and have always been loyal.

“Without you, none of this would have been possible. This album and this tour are for you. Dear SepulNation, we love you and always will.”
