The band's upcoming visit just officially got legendary
US indie-rock veterans Say Anything aren’t that far off touching down on Australian shores for their national tour in a couple months, but fans can whet their appetites with the brand new video for Six Six Six, taken from fifth studio full-length Hebrews.
The song itself, much like most of the album, is rife with religious imagery and ruminations, but don’t let that discourage you – it’s as loose, rambunctious and rockin’ a pop song as the band has ever put out, and if you find yourself watching frontman Max Bemis and his flamboyant, angular, irresistible movements and thinking, “No way does this guy act like this on-stage,” then you’ve clearly never seen Say Anything perform in the flesh before.
If anything, the video only just manages to convey the kind of maddened energy Bemis brings to his live performances, and the band has built on the audiovisual treat by outright spoiling antipodean audiences with the announcement that they’ll be joined by special guest guitarist Chris Conley of contemporaries and genre heroes Saves The Day when they kick their Aussie tour off in Perth on October 15.

Conley’s existing ties with Bemis enjoyed their most recent tightening via the former’s guest-vocalist appearance on Hebrews, for which he was one of sixteen esteemed ring-ins.
Seriously, the Hebrews guest list reads like a who’s who of a mid-noughties teenager’s bedroom wall, with appearances from Matt Pryor of The Get Up Kids, Eisley’s Chauntelle DuPree-D’Agostino and Sherri DuPree-Bemis, Every Time I Die’s Keith Buckley, Brian Sella of The Front Bottoms, mewithoutYou yelper Aaron Weiss, Eisley’s Stacy King, Bob Nanna of emo pioneers Braid, Gareth and Kim Campesinos of Los Campesinos, Christie DuPree of Merriment, Touche Amore’s Jeremy Boln, the legendary Tom DeLonge of blink-182, Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull, and Jon Simmons of angst-rock artists Balance & Composure.
Little wonder that Hebrews has been garnering some of the strongest feedback for Bemis and co. since 2004’s incendiary mainstream debut …Is A Real Boy, and with more than a decade behind him as a performer now, we can expect yet another confident and memorable performance from Max the mastermind and his cohort of co-conspirators when they touch down in a couple months.
