Speculation about RAYE recording a theme song for the next Bond film – whenever it arrives – has grown following a recent interview with Australia’s Smallzy.

The Australian radio host interviewed the British singer-songwriter during a red-carpet exchange at the iHeart Radio Music Awards. Following the chat, Smallzy generated online buzz after captioning the video on Instagram, “Did Raye just give away she’s doing the next ‘BOND’ theme song?”

During the chat, he asked the WHERE IS MY HUSBAND? hitmaker, “The rumours start with maybe a Bond theme.”

RAYE hesitantly replied, “I don’t know what to say, I’m nervous. No, there’s no rumour. Now I’m going red, and it looks like there is a rumour. No, there’s no rumour.”

However, that doesn’t mean that, if she were offered the opportunity to record a Bond tune, she wouldn’t accept it enthusiastically. “Obviously, if they ever want to approach me about that, my inbox is open,” she said.

UK publication Willmar Radio notes that RAYE and Olivia Dean are currently tipped as 2/1 joint favourites to take on the next Bond theme song.

A spokesperson for British gambling company William Hill explained, “The growing buzz around RAYE and her recent interviews speculating about an involvement in the 007 franchise means we can’t split them anymore.

“Right now, the betting suggests the next 007 theme is most likely to come from one of the UK’s two standout female stars of the moment.”

Last week, RAYE unveiled her highly anticipated, expansive sophomore album, THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.

The four-time Grammy-nominated artist’s latest album unfurls in four “seasons” across 17 tracks. The ambitious and deeply personal opus finds RAYE examining heartbreak, self-doubt, and turmoil, presenting these themes in a cinematic showcase of resilience.

With collaborators including Hans Zimmer, Al Green, the London Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Tom Richards), Flames Collective Choir, and her sisters Amma and Absolutely, RAYE seamlessly blends pop, R&B, jazz, big band, soul, and orchestral influences in a technicolour drama.

“Music is medicine, I’ve always said that,” RAYE explained. “I guess I’m in the process of making medicine for myself that I can share with the world.

“I want us all to say to ourselves that it’s going to be all right, and I’m going to have faith in the seeds that I’ve planted beneath the snow. I wanted to create something that is a hug, bed or soft place for that person who needs it.”
