Even more world-class acts added to the 2014 Soundwave line up.

More Soundwave names have been announced today and it's just starting to get a bit ridiculous. On twitter AJ Maddah has been saying that the third and final announcement is nothing special, calling it a handful of smaller bands.

Well, past Soundwave's have indicated that Maddah's definition of small bands is a bit different to most others, and this is no exception…

The new names are:

Richie Sambora, Filter, I Killed the Prom Queen, The Ghost Inside, Authority ZeroDangerkids, DarkC3ll, The Defiled

Here's how the line up sounds:

Here's what we reckon:

RICHIE SAMBORA

The man who helped write some of the biggest rock songs of our time, Bon Jovi's trusty guitarist and co-writer, the legendary Richie Sambora joins the Soundwave bill for 2014. Living On A Prayer, You Give Love A Bad Name, Wanted Dead Or Alive, Bad Medicine, I'll Be There For You, Keep The Faith… there are so many iconic songs he has been a huge part of over the year, it's frankly a little ridiculous. He promises us he is going to bring an amazing band of musicians to Australia for Soundwave, one of whom is none other than our own guitar hero Orianthi.

FILTER

Industrial rockers Filter have been hinting at an Australian tour for quite some time now and they are finally all locked in to visit us again with a run on the Soundwave Festival confirmed. You'd probably know the band best from either their debut LP Short Bus, or their 1999 album Title Of Record, which spawned a couple of mammoth singles in Welcome To The Fold and Take A Picture; it's a pretty iconic record of that era of alt-metal, but they've done plenty since. Their latest record The Sun Comes Out Tonight was released last year and they hit the crowdfunding scene to make sure they got to enough places around the world to promote it. Now they're coming!

I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN

Their new LP will be out just a week before the Soundwave Festival kicks off, so it'll be a pretty exciting time to catch Australian metalcore mainstays I Killed The Prom Queen. They have signed with Epitaph records for the new release and everything we have heard about it is that Beloved is a ripper of a new record. If you've seen the band live lately you'll know they are in as good a form as they ever have been, so make sure you don't miss them when they destroy it alongside the big internationals at Soundwave this year.

THE GHOST INSIDE

Melodic hardcore heroes The Ghost Inside really cracked it with their 2012 record Get What You Give and have been busy gallivanting all around the world since its release. This included a couple of trips to Australia, including dates with the Amity Affliction and shows early last year in the headline position. More and more people have been digging on the Los Angeles band since then so there's no doubt plenty keen to see them as a part of Soundwave this year.

DANGERKIDS

Young US rockers Dangerkids are one of the new groups bringing rap to post-hardcore, with their Collapse record of last year sending kids around the world wild for their unique brand of elecotrnic infused heavy music. Funnily enough the band recently announced they will head out on tour with I Killed The Prom Queen and The Ghost Inside – who are also announced on Soundwave today – this March, a trip to Australia sounds like the perfect way to warm up for that.

DARKC3LL

Hard working Brisbane band Dark C3ll have been favourites of the festival's AJ Maddah for quite a while now, close followers of his twitter account will attest. The brutal industrial rock of the group is mighty powerful and last year's Dark Verses album saw them take another step forward with their crushing sound. A spot on the national Soundwave tour is an incredible leg up for the band and one that will hopefully benefit them greatly.

THE DEFILED

British industrial lads The Defiled were championed by the heavy media in their native country pretty much as soon as they started playing. It's not hard to see why, the band were touring a whole lot which helped them polish up their show and their sound just the right amount. Their brand of thrashy groove metal isn't for the faint of heart, but Soundwave isn't for the faint of heart in general so get hard and get in the pit.
