‘80s glam metal icons Poison have been rather quiet in recent years, but a new interview has given fans something to look forward to, with drummer Rikki Rockett confirming a 2026 reunion.

The news was announced during an interview with Rockett on broadcaster Eddie Trunk’s Trunk Nation program, where he told the drummer he’d been in recent contact with Poison frontman Bret Michaels.

“When I announced on socials about a week ago when I knew you were going to come on today,” Trunk told the drummer. “Bret sent me a text – Bret Michaels – a day or two ago, and he said, ‘Hey, I hear you’re gonna have Rockett on. Send him my love and tell him Poison 2026.’”

Trunk asked Rockett for his thoughts on the topic, with the drummer offering an upfront confirmation of the news.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely. ’26 is for sure gonna happen,” Rockett said. “I mean, unless some unforeseen thing happens, but all band members have stuck their hand in and said, ‘Yeah, we’re definitely doing it – without a doubt.’”

Having first risen to fame in the mid-’80s thanks to albums such as Look What The Cat Dragged In and Open Up And Say... Ahh!, and tracks such as Talk Dirty To Me, Every Rose Has Its Thorn, and Nothin' But A Good Time, Poison quickly became one of the most ubiquitous bands in the ‘80s glam metal genre, thanks to their unique sound and aesthetic.

The group’s final album to date, Poison'd!, arrived in 2007, just one month before Michaels became a reality TV star thanks to hosting shows such as Rock Of Love.

While Poison have never stopped existing per se, long periods of inactivity have accompanied the past 15 years. Most recently, they embarked upon their first shows since 2018 when they performed alongside Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe for a stadium tour in 2022.

Michaels, however, told fans earlier this year that he would be “taking most, if not all, of 2025 off” due to some encounters with “physical adversity”, which he clarified to be “diabetes, a brain hemorrhage, skin cancer and Bret’s self-titled ‘headbanger’s neck’.”

Currently, full details of Poison’s purported 2026 reunion are yet to emerge (including whether it’ll include the band’s first Australian visit since their sole 1989 jaunt).
