“There’s such a massive audience out in the southern suburbs."
Frankston hotspot Pier Hotel has maintained its status as a solid live music venue in recent years by hosting regular gigs in the Pelly Bar, but now the suburban venue is gearing up to launch a larger upstairs space dubbed Pier Bandroom.
The 1200 capacity venue will be aimed at touring acts, providing regular live entertainment to suburban music lovers from March, and reopens after four years and extensive renovations.
“There’s such a massive audience out in the southern suburbs, and rather than spending $60 on a taxi into town, they can have premium national, international acts playing up there in a room that can cater for it,” booker Andrew Parisi told The Music.
The revamped south side music venue comes from the team behind The Croxton Bandroom so it’s not surprising two massive gigs have been locked down to celebrate the occasion, with a mini-street festival taking over Davey Street from 2pm on March 18 with headliners Birds Of Tokyo alongside Pierce Brothers, Ecca Vandal and more, while the official bandroom launch kicks off that night with Cog and others.
