More Pendulum More Pendulum

Pendulum are back, officially announcing their first new album in fifteen years, Inertia, and dropping a new single, Save The Cat.

The Australian EDM-meets-metal outfit have long made waves in music with their blend of danceable electronic music with chunky riffs and, at times, collaborations with heavy outfits. New single Save The Cat is Pendulum fully charged, a short but sweet number packed with heavy energy that arrived in the wake of two breakups.

Pendulum’s Rob Swire said of the unrelenting track, “It was written during a period of self-questioning and frustration, love felt like something I didn’t fully trust myself with anymore.”

You can check out Save The Cat below.

Inertia will be released on Friday, 22 August, via Mushroom Music / Virgin Music Group. You can pre-order/pre-save the album here.

The album will arrive with some already-released singles, including Halo (featuring Bullet For My Valentine), Louder Than Words (with Hybrid Minds), and Napalm (starring Joey Valence & brae).

Inertia was produced by Rob Swire and Owen Charles and recorded at the group’s London studio. The album features the aforementioned collaborators, plus Wargasm, AWOLNATION, and Scarlxrd, and has 16 tracks.

The release began gaining traction in 2020 as Swire attempted to figure out what Pendulum would look like after so many years away. Pulling from their 2021 EP Elemental and 2023’s Anima, Pendulum discovered their next direction.

Swire explained, “I was basically testing how far we could push Pendulum, seeing what we could get away with. I always looked at The Prodigy as the benchmark. They started out as pure rave—breakbeat, hardcore—but they evolved. They became their own sound. You don’t even really associate them with breakbeat anymore. They just are The Prodigy.

“It’s the sound of Pendulum finding themselves again, and me figuring myself out to a certain extent, breakups do that - they strip things down and show you who you are. I’m just trying not to become the guy who needs to go through one just to make a record.”
