Just as Black Sabbath announced their final-ever concert for this July, frontman Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that he “can’t walk,” but he remains optimistic as he’s “still alive.”

Despite his inability to walk, his wife, Sharon Osbourne, says that hasn’t affected his singing ability. In fact, she says Ozzy’s voice is “as good as it’s ever been.”

On Saturday, 5 July, the Prince of Darkness will perform a solo set and perform with Black Sabbath. Their swansong Back To The Beginning concert will feature special guests Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, and many more. The event will take place at Villa Park, the home of the Aston Villa football club, in the birthplace of heavy metal: Birmingham, England.

This week, Osbourne took to his SiriusXM radio show to discuss what’s ahead of him this year. “I have made it to 2025. I can’t walk, but you know what I was thinking over the holidays? For all my complaining, I’m still alive,” he said.

He continued, “I may be moaning that I can’t walk, but I look down the road, and there’s people that didn’t do half as much as me and didn’t make it.”

Sharon Osbourne further detailed how Ozzy is doing before the farewell show, saying that while he has Parkinson’s, the condition “doesn’t affect his voice.”

In an interview with The Sun, she added: “Parkinson’s is a progressive disease. It’s not something you can stabilise. It affects different parts of the body and it’s affected his legs. But his voice is as good as it’s ever been.”

In 2023, Ozzy Osbourne withdrew from performing at the star-studded Power Trip metal music festival due to health concerns.

While the singer thought he could play the show, the recuperation period after a serious spinal operation was longer than expected.

Osbourne explained, “My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.

“Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet, and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.”

In 2022, Osbourne and Tony Iommi performed the Black Sabbath classic Paranoid at the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony in Birmingham. For the performance, Osbourne used a supporting device to hold or lean on to help him stand.
