Neil YoungRock music icon Neil Young has pledged to gift his entire music catalogue to the people of Greenland for free, while blasting Jeff Bezos and Amazon for supporting US President Donald Trump.
In response to President Trump’s consistent threats to annex Greenland, Young has made his entire discography – including studio albums, live albums, studio outtakes, and concert films – from the Neil Young Archives available for free for Greenlanders.
“I hope my music and music films will ease some of the unwarranted stress and threats you are experiencing from our unpopular and hopefully temporary government,” Young wrote on his website. “It is my sincere wish for you to be able to enjoy all of my music in your beautiful Greenland home, in its highest quality.
“This is an offer of peace and love. All the music I made during the last 62 years is yours to hear. You can renew for free as long as you’re in Greenland. We do hope other organizations will follow in the spirit of our example.”
Greenland residents can access Young’s musical archives for free here.

Music from the Neil Young Archives is available in ultra-high-definition sound, with fans paying $24.99 to $99.99 a year to access classic songs at the highest listening quality.
Since October, Young’s music hasn’t been on Amazon Music in protest against Jeff Bezos’ support of Trump. In other objections to big tech, Young’s music was previously removed from Spotify in a statement against the streaming giant’s alleged platforming of misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic, and last year Young left Facebook, citing the platform’s “unconscionable” use of chatbots.
After more than a year, Young’s music returned to Spotify, while he also criticised the app’s sound quality. But it doesn’t seem his music will ever return to Amazon Music—at least, not while Jeff Bezos owns the company.
“Amazon is owned by Jeff Bezos, a billionaire backer of the president,” Young wrote. “The president’s international policies and his support of ICE make it impossible for me to ignore his actions. If you feel as I do, I strongly recommend that you do not use Amazon.
“There are many ways to avoid Amazon and support individual Americans and American companies that supply the same products. I have done that with my music, and people who are looking can find it in a lot of other places.”
Young continued, “Record stores provide all my vinyl and CDs, while the digital music world has many alternative options to purchase my music if you like it. My music will never be available on Amazon, as long as it is owned by Bezos. My position is unfortunately harmful to my record company in the short term, but I think the message I am sending is important and clear. Thanks for buying music locally and from independent digital services.”
Young fired at Donald Trump in song back in August, when he alluded to a “big crime” taking place at the White House.
