Alice Ivy, Rainbow Chan and a number of other influential members of the music industry will join forces in Hobart next month for the inaugural Game Changers conference.

The new program from Music Tasmania will celebrate and develop women in the music industry over three days with a series of workshops, events, and other opportunities that will provide valuable networking and educational experiences.

At the official launch in Hobart today, Ivy said electronic music was just one area where “women have been traditionally underrepresented”.

“Opportunities like this, which encourage women to experiment and play with production and tech are really important,” she said.

“They not only develop new skills but it also helps to change the perception that it's a male game."

Ivy will lead two workshops alongside Rainbow Chan, including Women In Electronic Music.

"Game Changers is about bringing people together to make new connections, have conversations, and shine a light on the contribution of women in music,” Music Tasmania CEO Laura Harper told The Music.

There’ll also be various live music showcases, masterclasses on developing the capacity and confidence of women in music, connecting with audiences, writing about music, collaborating and more.

Women In Music goes down from 3 -5 November and you can find more info via the Music Tasmania website.
