Pretty much anything that gets the party started.
When it comes to dangerous driving, it’s usually alcohol and phone use that tops the list, but there’s another element in play that is getting overlooked.
New research from UK-based driving school PassMeFast has revealed the most dangerous songs to listen to whilst driving, based on in-depth analysis of Spotify's 20 most popular car playlists, which included 1,485 songs.
Each song was scored across three categories: energy, danceability and how emotionally charged they are.
According to PassMeFast, “songs with a high distraction score have high energy and are emotionally charged, but with low danceability. The last factor means it has an irregular beat or tempo.”
The results show that pretty much any song that elicits a listener to involuntary move or yell its lyrics isn’t ideal when it comes to soundtracking the car.
So, it’s not surprising that Outkast’s Hey Ya! has been crowded the most dangerous driving song of all with a distraction score of 72.6%, while The Killers’ Mr. Brightside lands at #2 with a score of 69.6%.
