Robert Galinsky has been granted the rights

Last INXS frontman Michael Hutchence's life will be the subject of a biopic, it has been confirmed, with American-born producer Robert Galinsky scoring the film's rights.

The picture, which has a working title of Two Worlds Colliding, will be based on the book written by Hutchence's sister Tina and late mother Patricia Glassop, Just A Man. The announcement comes on the 15th anniversary of Hutchence's death (22 November 1997) and just a week after the remaining members of INXS announced they would be stopping the band.

Galinsky, who is best known for Dust & Glory, will write the screenplay and produce alongside fellow producers Trevor Field (who obtained exclusive rights to the book) and Suzy Markovski. They plan to meet members of the band next year and hope to have both their and the Hutchence family blessing and involvement.

The Daily Telegraph reports that actors such as Jai Courtney, Sullivan Stapleton and James Frecheville have been tabled as possible leads. Casting is expected to start early next year and filming late 2013.

Galinksy said, “I feel that we have material that can be as expansive as Ray or Walk The Line and attract the level of cast and director that can create that level of excitement and excellence Michael's memory deserves.

“There are a couple of other projects floating around out there but this is one that will stand on its own two legs. For Michael's fans as well as people who just want to see an astonishingly powerful albeit brief life chronicled on film.”
