Lorde Says Grammy Results 'Won’t Cheapen' Her Achievements

Kiwi pop superstar Lorde is presently on a plane headed towards Los Angeles where she will attend and perform at the Grammy Awards this Sunday, LA time.

Even more exciting than her appearance is the fact that she is nominated for four awards: Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Pop Solo Performance for Royals and Best Pop Vocal Album for Pure Heroine.

Before she left, we spoke to the singer – real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor – about how important winning on the weekend will be for her.

“To be honest I'm not gonna be too stressed if I don't come home with anything,” she says. “It would be super awesome to win a Grammy, I mean it would probably be the craziest thing that will ever happen to me if it happens, but it definitely won't cheapen or make less anything I've achieved."

With nine weeks atop the US charts, a single that has sold millions upon million all across the planet and, quite simply, being the hottest artist on the planet, you'd expect Yelich-O'Connor to be thrilled at her success, but she seems far more excited about the creative progress she has made more than anything.

“I think the growing I've had to do in this last year and what I've done creatively… I'm pretty proud of myself and I don't think that'll change whether or not I get this prize,” she says. “But yeah, it would be nice.”

In Australia, The Grammys will be broadcast live on FOX8 at 12pm (AEDT) on Monday 27 January.
