Australian vocal powerhouse Vanessa Amorosi, John Farnham’s son – musician and actor Rob Farnham, and former John Farnham vocalist Dannielle Gaha have been added to a forthcoming tribute concert for a homegrown music icon.

Tony Cochrane AM and Thea Jeanes-Cochrane of Cochrane Entertainment Collective, together with Paul Dainty AO of TEG Dainty, announced the additional acts today (17 August).

The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend – The Celebration Concert takes place on Sunday, 20 September, at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.

Today’s newly announced acts will share the stage with fellow legends including Tina Arena, Jimmy Barnes, Kate Ceberano, Diesel, Human Nature, Richard Marx, Jack Jones, Jessica Mauboy, Jon Stevens, Keith Urban, and more.

Plus, Celine Dion will perform from Paris, and Hugh Jackman will appear from Los Angeles, each of them performing via satellite. John Farnham himself won’t be performing.

All up, 120 artists will appear on stage – the aforementioned singers alongside a 38-piece orchestra, choir, and The John Farnham Band.

Plus, Farnham’s longtime Musical Director, Chong Lim, will work with all 23 singers on the bill, organising songs and arrangements. Lim led The Farnham Band for decades.

Remaining tickets for the tribute concert are now available via Ticketek.

Farnham has personally invited each of the artists performing to sing at the event, where they’ll deliver renditions of his classic songs like You’re The Voice, That’s Freedom, Two Strong Hearts, Pressure Down, and many others.

The tribute concert will raise funds for Head and Neck Cancer Australia, which supported the homegrown music icon with his two-year battle with mouth cancer. In July 2023, Farnham was declared “cancer-free.”

In a statement, Farnham said, “This [tribute concert] isn’t about me — it’s about giving something back and supporting a cause that means a great deal to me.

“The fact that so many extraordinary artists from around the world have so generously agreed to be part of this night is incredibly humbling and says far more about the spirit behind this event than it does about me. I hope everyone has a great night.”

Head and Neck Cancer Australia Chief Executive Nadia Rosin added, “John Farnham’s impact on the cancer community has been profound. By sharing his experience, he has helped raise the voices of Australians facing a similar battle and helped … better understand what’s at stake.”
