Liam Gallagher made the news for something unrelated to Oasis this week: for apologising after posting a racial slur on social media.

The Wonderwall singer allegedly shared a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), and the slur he posted on social media is used to mock East Asian people. The post has since been deleted.

Gallagher’s post is still available to view via screenshots captured by followers. After a fan responded by writing, “Liam you can’t say that,” he replied “Why.” That answer was met by another X user who wrote, “Cuz it’s racist.” He followed that response by writing, “Behave.”

Gallagher shared an apology for the post on Tuesday (1 July), where he wrote: “Sorry if I offended anyone with my tweet before it wasn’t intentional you know I love you all and I do not discriminate. peace and love LG x.”

Oasis will begin their long-awaited reunion tour—the Live ’25 tour—today at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. After two nights at the venue, the band, led by reunited brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, will play five shows in their home city of Manchester.

Australian fans can find out what happened at the first show of the tour right here at The Music tomorrow morning. The band will take to the stage at approximately 5:15 am AEST.

Following dates in the UK, the US, South Korea and Japan, Oasis will make their way to Australia for their long-awaited return Down Under for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Playing three shows at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and two shows at Sydney’s Accor Stadium, the British rockers will be joined by Brisbane’s own special guests, Ball Park Music.

The band has been soundchecking ahead of the tour, which begins this week, playing hits such as Some Might Say, Morning Glory, Whatever, Bring It On Down, and more.

Last month, U2 frontman Bono mentioned in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that Noel Gallagher had recently messaged him in “shock” about how “great” Oasis have been sounding at rehearsals.

“I love them [Oasis]. I just love them,” Bono said. “And what I really love is, the preciousness that had gotten [into] indie music, they just blew it out. There was just the swagger, and the sound of getting out of the ghetto, not glamorising it.”

He continued, “They’re both funny – I’m still very close with Noel, and he sent a message to me saying he’s kind of shocked by how great the band is [sounding at rehearsals]. I think we’re going to have a good summer.”
