More Jet More Jet

This September, Melbourne rock 'n' roll heroes Jet will perform their first full-band shows in over five years, heading to theatres across the country.

If that wasn’t exciting enough, you can witness the hits: Are You Gonna Be My Girl and Rollover DJ, to name a few, as Jet will revisit their seminal 2003 LP, Get Born, playing the album in its entirety.

The tour will commence on 22 September at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre, followed by Hindley Street Music Hall, Adelaide on 23 September, Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on 29 September and finally the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on 30 September.

Live Nation members can access the pre-sale tomorrow – Thursday, 15 June – from 10am for early access tickets running for 24 hours. General public tickets go on sale on Friday, 16 June, at 11am local time via the Live Nation website.

Get Born was a rare and unique moment of total planetary alignment where we somehow managed to capture lighting in a bottle,” vocalist Nic Cester said in a statement.

Bassist Mark Wilson added, “I don’t remember much about the actual day Get Born was released. I think we were in Pittsburgh. I’m sure we celebrated, but to be honest we celebrated every night back in those days. 2003 was one big blurry haze for me.”

If 2003 was a blurry haze for you too, here’s a refresher: Get Born was absolutely massive in Australia. The album saw Jet score six ARIA Awards and was certified nine times platinum in Australia, making it one of the top five highest-selling Australian rock albums of all time.

The unparalleled success of Get Born at home was only one part of the story, as Jet topped both the US Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts, and toured with The Rolling Stones, Oasis and Kings Of Leon, with eventual total worldwide sales in excess of five million albums.

Jet disbanded in 2012 but eventually reformed in 2017, accepting a mega opening slot for Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band during their sold-out Australian tour. Since then, they’ve toured infrequently across Australia and internationally. You don’t want to miss this one if you remember headbanging along to Get Born.
