It's currently been two years since Ed Sheeran last visited our shores, but with a new album on the way, some online teasers seem to indicate he'll be making a return soon enough.

It looks as though Australian fans might be readying themselves to catch Ed Sheeran on local soil once again, with it appearing as though a tour announcement may be imminent.
Speculation for Sheeran’s Aussie return first kicked off over the weekend when Frontier Touring (who have been the ones responsible for bringing Sheeran to our shores since 2011) updated their social media profile pictures to a rather prominent pink image.
That image, of course, echoes very strongly the design of Sheeran’s forthcoming Play album, which is scheduled for a September 12th release.
If that didn’t seem to indicate that an announce was imminent, Frontier have today shared a silent video to their social accounts which utilises both the pink background, and the logo from the artwork to Play as they tease followers with the phrase “Let’s Play.”
That video was itself paired with an additional teaser which states that they’ll be “Pressing ‘Play’ in 3,2,1...” and referencing an announcement coming at 4pm AEST on Tuesday, July 22nd.

While it looks like a certainty, no official confirmation has been given thus far, meaning that we’ve only got speculation to go off currently.
However, it does align with comments that Sheeran made on his Teddy’s Vinyl Breakfast Instagram account in May, when he responded to a fan who asked what tour plans he has booked for 2026 aside from the US. “Oz/NZ top of next year, then Latam, then USA,” Sheeran said.
Sheeran was most recently in Australia in 2023 as part of his +–=÷× Tour (that’s the Mathematics Tour, if it looks a tad tough to pronounce), where he sold out nine dates across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth.
That tour kicked off in 2022 and is scheduled to wrap in September of this year, just days before the release of his Play album. Following his Mathematics album series and the folk stylings of 2023’s Autumn Variations, Play marks Sheeran’s return to “big pop.”
He also explores new musical ground by joining forces with different producers and musicians, while finding inspiration in Indian and Persian musical cultures, and their surprising connections to the traditional Irish folk music of his childhood.
Despite returning to “big pop” music, Play was born from darkness as Sheeran embarked on a journey to create “joy and technicolour.”
To date, all seven of Sheeran’s studio albums have debuted at #1 on the ARIA charts, with Play likely to continue this trend. Though a tour date can’t be confirmed yet, it’s certainly seeming as though Aussie fans will get the chance to congratulate him on the latest record at some point in the near future.
