“Let’s face it, folks – 2021 is a write-off."
After the stellar announcement that Aus rock legends Hoodoo Gurus would be hitting the road with US superstars Dandy Warhols, the inevitable update of postponement has unfortunately come.
“Let’s face it, folks – 2021 is a write-off," Gurus singer Dave Faulker joked of the change to their original December plans. "We had high hopes earlier in the year that the pandemic would be behind us by now but... well, you know as well as I do. Delta skelter!"
He continued, "dashed hopes, spilt milk, whatever, we won’t let it break us. Stay strong, stay safe and stay put – we’ll get everything back on track in 2022. As the song says, all the good times we had we'll have again. Believe it.”
The good news for Hoodoo-heads is that the band have added a brand new Hobart date, meaning Tassie fans will now be able to join in the festivities as the What's My Scene? rockers commemorate four decades of making music together.
The group are also planning to release their tenth studio album very soon, having premiered the first single form the release, World Of Pain, back in May.
"It was right in the middle of when Sydney was just choking of bushfire smoke," Faulkner told The Music of the song and its accompanying video. "Just right through that Christmas and New Year period was that horrible bushfire season - so there we were, the city choking on smoke, and people are saying to me ‘nah, I don’t believe in all that.’

"And I’m just there going ‘look around you! You can see, physically, what you’re breathing! It’s the manifestation of our forests and bushland drying out and literally burning.’ Anyway, let’s just say the combination of that and me having had a few too many red wines inspired that video.”
The Hoodoo Gurus 40th Anniversary tour will now take place in April 2022. Tickets are on sale now.
