“It’s about how disinterest makes you want the person more, and go to crazy lengths to try and show this to them," Hebe explains.

Naarm/Melbourne dream pop artist Holly Hebe has released the latest in a string of truly impressive singles this year, unveiling the heart-rending Billboards.

Having been releasing a constant stream of critically-acclaimed tunes over the past five years, Hebe has been on a stunning hot streak in recent months. Sharing her second EP, Ruby, in September, she wasted no time in unveiling Ultra Love just two months later.

Now, in 2025, the tunes just keep on coming, with the likes of Bitterness and Don’t Come Crying arriving to help cement her status as one of the country’s most impressive and vital voices in the dream-pop scene.

That status has also found itself spreading internationally as well, with Hebe having recently served as an official showcasing artist for the SXSW festival and conference in Texas.

Of course, you can’t keep a good musician down, and now Hebe has once again returned with her latest single, Billboards. A gorgeous piece of work that sees her at her most emotionally vulnerable, it’s a rumination on those terrible one-sided relationships and how this lack of reciprocated affection can only see that desire burn ever-stronger.

“This is a song about one-sided relationships and the desperation that they generate,” Hebe said in a statement. “It’s about how disinterest makes you want the person more, and go to crazy lengths to try and show this to them.”

Another example of Hebe’s striking commitment to her artistry and her impressive consistency, Billboards is likely not the last we’ve heard from her this year by a long shot. Of course, for those wanting to catch her on the live stage in 2025, they’ll be getting the chance to catch her as part of the Starburst festival in Sydney this June, and as a special guest on The Dreggs’ national tour in July.
