Aussie folk pop duo The Dreggs have had a big day - announcing a new album and national tour, on top of releasing a new single.

The Art of Uncommon Practice will mark The Dreggs’ sophomore LP, slated for an independent release on July 25. In support of the new album, the pair will head on tour this July, hitting Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, and Brisbane. They’ll be joined by Perth’s South Summit and Melbourne’s Holly Hebe as they tour around the country. Tickets go on sale at 10am tomorrow (May 2) Find links below.

Alongside the tour and album announcement, The Dreggs have dropped their latest single: Get Knocked Down.

Get Knocked Down is all about the experiences of getting older,” said Paddy Macrae, one half of the duo. “Some embrace it with open arms, while others struggle with the concept of aging. It's a song that touches on the internal conflict about the balance of feeling older while understanding that getting older doesn't mean you are running out of time. It’s a song about reminding yourself that while reminiscing on past times may lead to feeling older, it’s also important to accept that there is still time to achieve your goals, whatever they may be.”

Co-written and co-produced with Matt Corby and Chris Collins, the track pushes the band into new sonic territory whilst still maintaining the group's signature sing-a-long moments.

And, if a new song, album, and tour isn’t enough, the band are headed for one more milestone, playing Triple J’s Like A Version tomorrow for the first time in their career.

The Art of Uncommon Practice has a lot to live up to, with The Dreggs’ debut album, Caught In A Reverie, taking out The Triffid’s 2024 QLD Album of the Year mere months ago. Their acceptance speech was a message of shock and encouragement.

“We’ve never been invited to something like this, and we’ve never really won any awards either. We should’ve prepared a speech,” they laughed. “To all the punters out there, we fucking love you. To all the musos out there, keep fucking doing it. It’s hard. We’ve put on at least ten years in the past two years. We’re independent, we almost went bankrupt, but now we’re here and so grateful. This is unreal. Thank you.”
