Happening this September.
The upcoming Helen Reddy I Am Woman biopic will get its world premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival in September.
The film has been selected to open the Special Presentation section of the festival and is the "story of Helen Reddy who, in 1966, landed in New York with her three-year-old daughter, a suitcase and $230 in her pocket," as well as looking at her ongoing career and friendship with music journalist Lilian Roxon.
Reddy will be played by Tilda Cobham-Hervey, who has appeared in The Kettering Incident and Hotel Mumbai, while Roxon will be played by Patti Cake$ and Dumplin' star Danielle Macdonald and was filmed between Sydney and Los Angeles with director Unjoo Moon.
"It was always my dream to premiere I Am Woman at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival," shared Moon.
"I am so thrilled that TIFF have selected our film for a special presentation and I can’t wait for people to embrace Helen and fall in love with her all over again."
“We couldn’t be happier," adds producer Rosemary Blight. "Toronto is an incredible festival to launch the film and honours the work of the entire cast and crew as well as the incomparable Helen Reddy, whose life story inspires us all."
