More G Flip More G Flip

G Flip has realised the dream of just about every Australian, with the acclaimed ARIA Award-winner set to make an appearance on Play School this afternoon (Monday, February 24th).

G Flip (whose real name is Georgia Flipo) makes their appearance on the episode titled Mighty Moving Machines, which – according to a synopsis – includes discussions about moving machines, hole digging, and even building a plane.

Somewhere along the way though, the episode shifts its focus to feature G Flip offering up a modernised take on the classic Wheels On The Bus – retitled Wheels On The Truck in honour of the episode’s topic.

Wheels On The Bus like you've never heard it before!” the ABC wrote in a caption of a teaser shared on social media. “G Flip pulled up to the Play School set for this remix that's sure to get stuck in your head.”

Pairing G Flip’s trademark percussion and their iconic vocals, the rendition sees them teaming up with Big Ted alongside a few horns as well. Some promo images from the ABC also show G Flip behind the kit with Humpty Dumpty, though it remains to be seen when Humpty will offer a take on The Worst Person Alive.

G Flip’s Play School debut makes them the latest musician to join forces with the iconic kid’s program, with the likes of Missy Higgins, Pierce Brothers, and Nikki Webster joining in recent years. Its 50th anniversary in 2016 boasted names like Bernard Fanning, Kate Ceberano, Kate Miller-Heidke, and much more.

For our recent musical guest, G Flip is still riding high off the success of 2023 album Drummer, which peaked atop the ARIA charts and scored four ARIA Award nominations. While Good Enough scored an additional Best Video award and the associated tour nabbed G Flip Best Australian Live Act, the single The Worst Person Alive won Song Of The Year at last year's awards.
