Mellbournites, get ready to immerse yourself in a music experience like no other as local hip-hop duo FLY BOY JACK brings to life hip-hop festival FlyFest, with support from Converse.
Taking place this Sunday, October 8th at Howler in Brunswick, Melbourne from 2pm, the Converse All Star Projects-backed event will celebrate the release of SIRENZ by FLY BOY JACK. This track, along with their upcoming EP 777, will take centre stage as the duo perform it live for the first time.
"In my mind, when Jujo presented me the beat, it felt chaotic, like something bad was on its way,” Jordan Dennis, one-half of FLY BOY JACK, said of the forthcoming tune. “And then it hits. I wanted to highlight the feeling of everything collapsing physically, but also through the burden of seeing more and more, what really makes the world go around.”
Jujo added, “SIRENZ was made during the Covid lockdown, during the time when there were so many rules and regulations. So, we needed to make a song to express ourselves, fuelled by our anxiety. Hence, the production - fast-paced, eerie, anxiety, control. Defying the government type shit."
More than just a music festival, the event will also celebrate the creativity and talent that Melbourne's music scene has to offer. Created by Jordan as a means to showcase the city's best musical talent, FlyFest will see performances from ARIA-Award-nominated Jada Weasel, rising rap talent Mali Jo$e, and more.
It comes following a big year for FLY BOY JACK, who has shared stages with some major artists, supporting Thundercat at the Forum in June and Winston Surfshirt at The Nightcat in May. They've also toured alongside Aussie hip-hop icon Seth Sentry, wowed the crowd at BIG SOUND 2022, and made international waves in Bangkok, Thailand, and Tokyo, Japan in 2022.
