Flume Tangles With One Direction In Chart Figures

Sydney producer v boy band phenomenon

More Flume Flume

Young Sydney hype-riding producer Flume is set to charge into the ARIA Albums Chart this week with his self-titled debut album tracking extremely well in its first week of release, according to midweek figures.

The album, which is out through Future Classic, has been tracking remarkably well on iTunes charts, particularly given it's a week when British boy band phenomenon One Direction have released a new album – Take Me Home. But although the digital rankings point to a stunning upset, it's likely that One Direction's physical sales will make it the highest debut of the week and the biggest threat to Taylor Swift's Red  and Pink's The Truth About Love at the top of the chart.

Flume charted earlier this year when his single Holdin On snuck into the ARIA Singles Chart at 49 last month.

There's also releases from Lana Del Rey's repackaged EP Paradise, Soundgarden's King Animal and Green Day's Dos which will likely populate the top ten.

In the singles world Swedish House Mafia's Don't You Worry Child and Psy's Gangnam Style continue to fight it out at the top. This week's bullet performers Ke$ha's Die Young, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz and One Direction's Little Things are also pushing into top five territory.
