New Guide 'Sets Up Steps' For Aussie Promoters To Fight Ticket Scalping

"We are already seeing some early signs of change following the guide’s publication."

A new guide for agents and managers on how to implement a "tout-proof ticketing system" has been published.

FEAT — the pan-Europe alliance set up to tackle scalping - has released the Stop Touting: A Guide to Personalised Tickets in Europe document which "includes a step by step on how to implement named tickets, an overview of the key rules and regulations in the various territories, and suggested ticketing platforms that can be used to ensure tickets end up in the hands of real fans".

Though the guide is more specific to European systems, FEAT Director Sam Shemtob told The Music that it the steps can also be implemented in Australia.

"While one section of the guide deals with European member state regulation, the rest of it sets out steps that Australian promoters can follow to make personalised tickets work for them," Shemtob said.

"More broadly, this sort of best practice shared globally will eventually help make ticket personalisation second nature and part of the fabric of live music ticketing.
