Three former members of The Bennies’ classic line-up – David “Bowie” Beaumont, Jules Rozenbergs and Craig Selak – have once again joined forces to form a new band.
Previous Future is the trio’s new project, and they have their debut show booked and new music on the way. The gig will take place at Melbourne’s Shotkickers on Friday, 28 November, hosting a party for fans, family and friends.
Support on the evening will be indie rockers DIVERS and a new band, FUTURE PRIMITIVES, featuring members of Area 7, Wings, and Fireballs. Tickets are available now via Previous Future’s website.
According to a press release, the trio’s next chapter channels the energy of their past but adds a fresh twist, drawing inspiration from bands like Rush, The Meat Puppets, and Sublime.
In addition to announcing their launch show, the trio have confirmed that new music will be released in the coming weeks. “Known for their wild energy with The Bennies, the trio’s new project takes a raw, live-recorded approach,” notes a press release.
The statement continues, “No click tracks, no polish, just riffs, hooks, and the unpredictable charm that defined their past.”

The trio added, “After 7 years apart, it feels great to be back together again....for the first time.”
With The Bennies, the trio toured internationally, played festivals such as Soundwave and Groezrock, and shared stages with NOFX, Less Than Jake, and The Living End, becoming one of Australia’s most explosive live acts.
Selak and Beaumont founded The Bennies alongside Anty Horgan and Steve Lavery in 2009. At the time of publication, Horgan is the band’s sole original member.
Meanwhile, Rozenbergs joined The Bennies in 2012 and departed in 2022. Beaumont also left the band in 2022, while Selak departed the group in 2018.
The Bennies’ fifth album, You Can't Put Out This Fire, was released in April 2025.
