The legendary Elvis Costello has a big treat in store for Australian audiences.
Where do you start with an artist like Elvis Costello? With hundreds of incredible classic songs released over a career of decades, he is one of the most well regarded artists in music history; he's even earned himself a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame for his troubles.
He returns to Australia again early next year with his band The Imposters in tow and audiences in Sydney and Melbourne are very privileged, as he brings The Spectacular Singing Songbook to the shows in those cities. If you aren't aware of what goes down at one of these shows, it's pretty much like the greatest game of Wheel Of Fortune ever; take a look at this.
While the scale of this production means that this show can't make it to other cities on the tour, promoters have more than made up for it with the bands who play on the other shows of the tour.

It has been 21 years since Sunnyboys got out on a full national tour, and what better way to do it then in support of a legend such as Costello. They have written some of the best power-pop of any Australian band in history, some might even say some of the most intelligent and catchy pop-rock music anywhere in the world. Sydney and Melbourne have had a chance to see them, now it's time for the rest of the country to get a chance.
Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons were one of the many great Aussie blues bands that came out of the fertile scene of the 1970s. Of course Joe Camilleri has gone on to do plenty of stuff after that, but plenty of people consider the Falcons to be him at his best. With his old mates Wilbur Wilde and Jeff Burstin in tow, there will be plenty of memories rekindled at these shows.
Sure, he's been insanely busy playing Johnny Cash in theatres around the country in recent months, but Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses has a new record called Everyone's Alone ready for release early next month. There will no doubt be plenty of new material to enjoy at the shows, but given Perkins' incredible back catalogue we can pretty much guarantee that you'll get some of your old favourites as well.
Rounding out the bill is Stephen Cummings, former lead singer of The Sports, who has released 21 solo albums since going out on his own back in the early 1980s. We can't even begin to tell you what he might play, so enormous is his back catalogue, but you can bet the quality will be high.
