Faker has smashed all expectations.
Taking out first place in triple j’s Hottest 100 is still reaping benefits for Chet Faker, with the Australian troubadour dominating this week’s ARIA charts, jumping 46 places in the single charts.
Faker’s 2014 Built On Glass LP climbed to 2 on the album charts and its lead single, Talk Is Cheap, which took out first place in the world’s biggest music poll, shot from 52 to 6, smashing expectations of mid-week figures — the song had previously only gotten as high as 31.
She may have been disqualified at her chances to claim gold in the Hottest 100, but all the publicity from stunt sees Taylor Swift remain at the top of the album charts, with her most recent studio effort, 1989.
Marilyn Manson’s new record, The Pale Emperor – which we gave four stars - has debuted at 6 while Cali church group Bethel Music score the next highest debut with We Will Not Be Shaken (live) at 14.

Aussie legends Pond have debuted at 15 with their new record, Man It Feels Like Space Again — giving them the week's biggest debut by a local artist. Us prog metal outfit Periphery were the next two new entries with their Juggernaut: Alpha set at 22 and their Juggernaut: Omega set at 25.
Hilltop Hoods were bumped up to 7 with Walking Under Stars, and The Preatures (18) and Vance Joy (20) also enjoyed climbs on the album chart.
Other tracks to benefit from strong Hottest 100 results include Peking Duk's two hits: Take Me Over (featuring SAFIA) shot back to 14 from 20 and High (featuring Nicole Millar) re-entered at 26. Milky Chance's Stolen Dance came back in at 40 while Hilltop Hoods' Cosby Sweater moved back up to number 10.
