Brother Ali Announces Aussie Shows To Complement BIGSOUND Appearance

The Minneapolis MC will perform three headline dates down the east coast this September

Veteran musician and activist Brother Ali has unveiled a three-date run of headline shows down the east coast to complement his existing commitments at Brisbane's BIGSOUND showcase and conference this September.

The sharp-tongued performer will first extend his Australian reach with a slot at Sydney's Oxford Art Factory on 11 September, heading down to Melbourne on 13 September to play the Laundry Bar, and wrapping up in Canberra the following day, 14 September, at Transit Bar.

Brother Ali arrives in Australia with sixth studio album Mourning In America & Dreaming In Colour in tow, armed with an extensive batch of socially conscious songs from across his long and storied career, which has previously seen him grace late-night TV shows, be mentored by hip hop greats such as Chuck D and Rakim, and earn a reputation in the press as one of the most quotable, thoughtful artists doing the rounds.

"This is not just a new album, but a new chapter," Brother Ali has said of the new release and his present pursuits. "There's a kind of democratic reawakening in people at this point in time. I was really looking to take these topics and really hit them hard; to try to open ears and hearts, and invite people to take some action and feel empowered; to be engaged and take some agency and responsibility for what's going on in the world."

Tickets for Brother Ali's forthcoming Australian headline shows are on sale as of today via their relevant venues. See theGuide or check The Music App for more information.
