Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny has confirmed a surprise career move: he’ll appear in the forthcoming, highly anticipated Toy Story 5.

On Tuesday (26 May), Pixar announced that Bad Bunny’s character is “Pizza with Sunglasses.” The film studio shared the news via a teaser on social media, which was captioned: “¡Vamos! @badbunnypr is Pizza with Sunglasses in #ToyStory5.”

Billboard reports that, in 2020, the singer, rapper and record producer—real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio—gave followers some entertainment as they experienced lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He crafted videos starring Toy Story characters, using his own action figures, for short films he titled “Toy Story in the Times of Coronavirus.” The videos starred Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Rex and Forky, all enthusiastically voiced by the Tití Me Preguntó singer.

Toy Story 5 doesn’t mark Bad Bunny’s acting debut. He had a standout role in Happy Gilmore 2, sharing the spotlight with Adam Sandler, and appeared opposite Austin Butler in the Darren Aronofsky-directed film, Caught Stealing. He’s also set to appear in the movie Porto, from René Pérez Joglar (artistically known as Residente).

Toy Story 5 will reunite Tom Hanks’ Woody with Tim Allen’s Buzz Lightyear and Joan Cusack’s Jessie. In the film, the beloved toys face off against technology and compete for Bonnie’s attention. The film lands in Australian cinemas on Thursday, 18 June—check out the trailer below.

In March, Bad Bunny made his Australian debut and broke attendance records while he was at it.

Performing for two nights at ENGIE Stadium, he brought “close to 90,000 fans” to the venue across two sold-out shows. The concerts subsequently marked the “highest number of attendees ever” for a music event held at the Sydney-based stadium.

Final tickets that were available for Bad Bunny’s second show sold out “almost immediately” following the star’s Album of the Year win at this year’s Grammy Awards, and the following week, headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show, which featured guest appearances from Shakira and Ricky Martin.
