Western Australian singer Go-Jo performed at the Eurovision Song Contest semi-final overnight, but missed out on the final. It’s the second year running that Australia’s representative didn’t make the final.

This year’s Eurovision is taking place in Basel, Switzerland, in honour of last year’s winner, Swiss artist Nemo.

Go-Jo competed during the semi-final this morning with his energetic song, Milkshake Man. For the track, he teamed up with Sheppard’s Amy and George Sheppard, as well as Jason Bovino. During the performance, he encouraged crowd participation and showed off his flair for the dramatic, taking on a costume change that saw him wear baby blue skin-tight pants and a red scarf.

You can watch the performance below.

When it was announced Go-Jo would represent Australia at Eurovision in February, he said of Milkshake Man and the task of competing on the world stage: “The Milkshake Man’s purpose is to inspire people to embrace the loudest and proudest version of themselves, and I can’t think of a better place to share that message than the Eurovision stage!

“It’s an absolute dream come true to represent such a beautiful and diverse nation, and I've never been more excited to share my art and vision with the incredible Eurovision fans around the world!”
